Match report from the Herts. v Middlesex indoor match March 2022

Stortford Archers shoot the County forward again.

After the excellent performance against Kent, Surrey and Essex and Suffolk last month, Stortford archers were in the mix again against Middlesex in the annual intercounty indoor tournament.
 
Of the 20 strong County squad,  5 were from Stortford, 3 of which were presented with County colours for the first time.
 
Stuart Barber - Compound, Robert Jones - Longbow, Jeremy Godfrey - Recurve, Nigel Boardman - Recurve and Sophia Coles - Junior - Recurve. 
Nigel, Jeremy and Robert all received their county colours for the first time.
 
The Herts Compound team beat the Middlesex team, Herts -1748 /  Middlesex 1677
The Herts Recurve team also best the Middlesex team Herts 4408 / Middlesex 4336
The Herts Juniors (only 2 per team) also best Middlesex Herts 922 / Middlesex 871
 
Middlesex beat Hertfordshire in the Barebow and Longbow categories
 
When all the points are totalled together it gave Hertfordshire the overall win by just 6 points!. Herts 9650 / Middlesex 9644. 
To show how close the overall result was: 2280 arrows shot in total and only 6 points separated the teams!! 
 
SAC Secretary Stuart Barber - also County Chairman - said he had never shot in such a close match before and was extremely proud of the team, and especially the Stortford archers.
 
The next event Stortford are having is the Club Indoor Championships... Results to follow.
